What does the Graduate Student Council do?
Our main goal is to be the collective voice for all graduate students in the ALC Department. The council will collect input from graduate students about questions, concerns, issues that are based on our individual experiences but relevant to all of us as a grad student community. Based on everyone’s input, the council will work to present these issues to the department (e.g. directly to our Director of Graduate Studies, the department chair, at Department Committee or Diversity Committee meetings), and work towards solutions and changes that we graduate students would like to see.
NEW: Graduate Student Support Meetings
This semester, the ALC Graduate Student Council is pleased to introduce Graduate Student Support Meetings for all grad students in the ALC department! Come chat with the council members about what’s on your mind: from trying to find a work/study/life balance to building strong relationships with your peers and advisors or simply wanting to get to know the council — we can talk about it all!
For meeting info please check your email inbox.
Anonymous Suggestion Box for ALC grad students
Let us know what is on your mind! Use this anonymous suggestion box to tell the Graduate Student Council what you would like us to work on next. We appreciate all your input because it helps us get a better sense of our community's needs.
Asian Languages and Cultures Graduate Student Peer Mentorship
Are you new to the ALC Department and want to connect to current ALC graduate students? The Graduate Student Council is here to help! We would like to match all new (ish) graduate students with a more experienced graduate student who might be able to answer program-related questions and could perhaps serve as an initial social contact. Fill out the form and we'll be in touch with you!
