Rachel Weiss

Rachel meets with students any any stage in their journey to discuss plans and requirements for all of our undergraduate programs. She advises students who have interests in, or questions about placement into the languages offered in the department.

Rachel staffs ALC’s Curriculum and Planning Committee, and assists the department in communication platforms; such as web content, weekly e-News and social media. Rachel oversees the social media intern, peer mentors, and peer language tutors for the department. Rachel strives to develop programming for undergraduates to explore professional and career trajectories during their time at UW-Madison.

The Wisconsin Idea is near and dear to Rachel’s heart and she often coordinates outreach on campus or in the community that involve members of our department to share Asian cultures and languages beyond the classroom.

With a background in study abroad and organizing K-12 trips for educators–Rachel was thrilled to chaperone a group of ALC students to Japan in November 2022 on the Kakehashi Project.
