Tianlu Zhang earned her M.A. in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language and her Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition from the University of Iowa. Her interests include intercultural competence, task‑based language teaching, and technology‑enhanced pedagogy. She teaches foundational Chinese language courses and cultural seminars.
Dr. Zhang also supervises and trains graduate teaching assistants, oversees Chinese placement testing, and serves as faculty director for initiatives that promote Chinese language and culture on campus and in the community, as well as outreach to K–12 Chinese learners in the region.
