What specific skills from your Japanese major do you use every day in your career and what are unexpected ways that this major has helped you in your career?
The Japanese major helped prepare me for a career in Japan. With many cultural differences between the US and Japan, the major thoroughly prepared me for many of those differences so I could more smoothly integrate into Japanese society. The Japanese major at UW doesn’t just teach the language: it educates you on a culture that is very different from your own & helps you appreciate those differences.
