As a native speaker of Chinese majoring in Japanese literary studies, I have great research interests in the Sinosphere studies focusing on the Japanese literary historiography of Chinese literature, the trajectory of the configuration of “jingdian/classics”, and that of literary genres such as “xiaoshuo/shōsetsu/fiction” particularly from the late nineteenth to the early twentieth century. I am also interested in Japanese literary theoretical projects like Natsume Sōseki’s Theory of Literature (Bungakuron, 1907). Some of my broader research interests include translation theory, canon and national literature formation, postcolonialism, and literary modernity.
