Language of Study: I was in a Chinese immersion program during elementary school, then continued with 1-2 language learning classes through middle school and high school. In high school, I took AP Chinese and IB Chinese SL, expanding my reading and writing skills in literature, culture, and linguistics.

What I can share with Students: I have a relatively unique language learning background, as my the period of full immersion ended about 10 years ago, so now the best I can do to keep growing is find time to practice and look for enriching opportunities. I’ve traveled to Taiwan, been involved in CLACC here at Madison, and even had a roommate from China in my freshman year! I would love to share how I maintained my language skills and found creative ways to improve as well, such as pursuing independent research that intersected Chinese language and international geopolitics. To me, the most important avenue for success is finding an intersection at which your personal interest meets your language development.

Fun fact about me: I have Italian citizenship, but I speak absolutely zero Italian!
