On August 27, 2018 Nalan Erbil Erkan (Ph.D., Asian Languages and Cultures) successfully defended her dissertation, "The Writer and the Nation-State: Language, Aesthetics, Ideology and Power in Turkish Literature (1927-2015),” (Vinay Dharwadker, Advisor).
Nalan will begin a position as a Faculty Associate in the Department of German, Nordic and Slavic at UW-Madison next semester.
