Fields of Study: Literature of the Edo period (1600-1868), kabuki theater, gesaku, fan culture (both pre-modern and contemporary), visual-verbal culture, senryū, kibyōshi, humor, parody.  My current research deals with variations of the story of the forty-seven rōnin, commonly known as Chūshingura.  I am interested in how the story evolved over time, and was reinterpreted through spin-offs and parodies.
