Alumni Talk with Dr. Ziyun Liu

Dr. Ziyun Liu earned her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison(2021) and her two MAs from SOAS University of London and the University of Edinburgh. She studied Chinese religion and philosophy in China, the UK, Italy, and the United States. Her primary research is an interdisciplinary project across religion, philosophy, and visual art. Her dissertation “True Realm of Vision: The Visualization of Inner Alchemy in Yuan Shanshui(landscape) Painting” is the first systematic project studying Daoist inner alchemical landscape paintings and bringing awareness to this exclusive genre of Daoist art, which has won the Chancellor’s fellowship and the Graduate School’s fellowship. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Philosophy Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Science.
